A Textured Wall is a Happy Wall/ Day 35

It’s the third day of decontamination. The house is free of meth residue, and the first couple coats of primer have been applied, so now it’s time to prep for painting the house and getting it back to normal.

The pro left sometime yesterday afternoon, and most everyone else had plans or needed a break, so that left my buddy and me. We had planned to be up at 6am again, in fact we both were up at 6am, but the problem was we were both exhausted and neither of us really wanted to be up that early. Another house of sleep was in order. I went back to bed at 6:30am and ended up sleeping until around 8:30am.

When I woke up, my buddy and I drove out to his place and we started the work we had planned out for the day. Since almost all the priming was done, it was time to paint. We didn’t have any of the paint for the house yet, but we did have white paint for the trim, which was perfect because we realized we could spray the trim and not have to worry about any of the over spray on the walls or ceilings because they would be painted later. Brilliant. This will go so much quicker now!

We also need to texture some of the walls in his house, so before we started painting the trim, we masked off the trim and fixtures in the rooms that he wanted textured. When we were done with the masking, I grabbed his compressor and we started getting ready to texture his walls.

Unfortunately, at this point, we realized something was wrong with his compressor. I grabbed a second compressor and tried it out. That one wasn’t working either, and both we having the same problem. Very weird. Very annoying.  We decided we had no choice but to give up on the texturing for the day.

We had a quick dinner of hot dogs in tortillas—they weren’t terrible—then we had to start cleaning everything up because he had somewhere to be that night. It was kind of depressing to have worked through the day and not be able to see any progress at this point, but we really did get a lot done between the two of us. Tomorrow we can start painting the walls, and hopefully start moving stuff back into the house!

I hung out with him until around 11pm, then I headed back to the intern house so we could talk about our week and what we had planned. It was a pretty productive meeting, then it was time for bed. Another long day had just finished up, and there were more long days ahead. I’m going back into the office tomorrow for the first time since Tuesday, so I’m pretty excited about that. Stay tuned to hear how my day went!

Thanks so much for reading!

Things I learned today:
1. Three hours of sleep really is not enough.
2. Moving stuff with a three wheeler is way more fun than carrying it.
3. Acts 12
