Our morning started out like most, but in anxious anticipation of what was to come later that day. At 10:30am, Greg, Audrey, Sarah, and Bloom were supposed to show up to our house, so we could drive down to Valentine for the day and go tubing down the river! I was pretty excited.
Greg showed up early, cause he just likes us that much. Audrey, Sarah, and Bloom showed up right on time, and shortly thereafter we were all in our cars. There was an unfortunate mix up that transpired at this point, as we were taking two cars and there were seven people riding.
Jonny, Greg, and I threw our stuff into my car, and got in. I thought Steven had thrown his stuff into my car as well, but he wasn't in the back seat, so we thought he ran inside. We waited for 10 minutes or so, then Jonny and I ran inside to find him. He wasn't inside, but somebody was in the bathroom so we just figured we would wait.
Close to 20min had passed before we realized he wasn't actually in the house and was, in fact, in the other car. Lame. But entirely our fault. Oh well. We made good time down to Valentine and we were on our way down the river in a relatively short amount of time, despite the miscommunication.
The tubes they set us up with were very high quality tubes, and they roped them all together so we started off going down the river in a super comfortable circle of friends. It was so awesome. We spent about 4hrs going down this river on our tubes, stopping occasionally to swim around or see a waterfall (that was so cool!).
It was such a beautiful ride. The group of people we were with are such a solid group of people that it's impossible to have a negative experience in any way, while we are with them. We talked for hours obviously and just played around in the river. It was truly an incredible experience.
There isn't a better way to bond with a group of people then to spend the day going down a river-- practically connected at the hip, creating a huge circle. So needless to say, by the end of the trip we all shared a mutual feeling of "this was a fantastic day." But it wasn't over yet! There was still $13 prime rib to be had and an Eastern Conference NBA final to watch.
The prime rib was pretty solid. Just as I imagined it-- buffet style. After prime rib, we all went back to Greg's house to watch the Celtics - Heat game. For the parts that I watched, it wasn't a very impressive game. The Celtics just couldn't seem to match the energy level the Heat had, and at the end of the game, I'm pretty sure the Celtics just gave up. Embarrassing.
However, I will admit I didn't see the whole game, and with good reason. Right now Greg lives on a ton of land, so he always has something sweet to do out at his place. The first of these being a sandrail. A sandrail is a type of dune buggy almost, and Greg just drives it around his property going really really fast, with the occasional jump thrown in for effect. It was so intense. I'm going to have to think about getting one of my own someday.
After the sandrail escapade, we went inside to watch some of the game, but Greg got bored so he grabbed his .22 and Jonny, Greg and I had some sharpshooter contests. I did fairly well I thought. Sometimes I got trigger happy and missed the last shot or two, but overall I was happy with my shooting. Jonny beat me by one or two each time, and Greg couldn't seem to miss if he tried.
While Jonny was shooting the .22, Greg and I were talking about one of his handguns-- a .41-- and he decided it would be fun to pull that out as well. The .41 is a magnum, so it basically went boom. Plus it had a red dot site. Loved that.
I actually did better at shooting the magnum than Jonny, so that was my feat for the day. But overall, we had so much fun out there that I wouldn't have given it up to see the better portion of the last half of the game.We came back just in time to watch the Celtics give up, then everybody went home.
My night ended with getting stopped by the police in Mission. Unfortunately, I was expecting this to happen sooner than later, because, let's face it, I have become pretty familiar with the traffic police in the southern Twin Cities.
Luckily, instead of the common question of "Do you know how fast you were going?", I was told I was being pulled over for having my brights on in town. I'm not going to comment on this one, but it was definitely a memorable experience. Also, I met a policeman named Louis. First policeman I've ever met in Mission. That deserves to be recorded.
Anyway, now we are discussing plans for tomorrow, then we are going to bed. We are pretty exhausted. I just can't believe how much God can bless us in one day. I love the people I spent the day with so much, and I'm hoping to have many more days like today in the next couple weeks.
Thanks again for reading. You all are awesome.
Goodnight,
Brenden
Things I learned today:
1. Greg can't remember His own address
2. Audrey will argue anything and everything, but she is able to make it enjoyable instead of annoying. Interesting.
3. If you seeks God's will for your life and follow His plan, His blessings will pour out onto you. Incredible.
